With the arrival of the first trailer for The Return of Mary Poppins – the sequence to the 1964 film – it is clear that the internet would figure out a way to include the Galaxy Guardianship joke Vol. 2 in the preview. A video – which by the way got pretty much it – repaginated the trailer and replaced Emily Blunt by Michael Rooker like Yondu. Check it out.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Yondu uses his weapon to land triumphantly and delicately, just like Mary Poppins – which gave rise to the recurring joke.
Mary Poppins Returns takes place in the 1930s, during the Great Depression in London. In the story, Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane (Emily Mortimer) are now adults who live on Cherry Tree Lane with their three children and their housekeeper, Ellen. After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) re-enters the lives of the Banks family. Poppins, along with optimistic lighthouse keeper Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda), uses his magical skills to help the family rediscover the joy that is missing in their lives.
